VirtualBox is a cross-platform virtualization application that allows multiple operating systems at the same time. You have to use any different operating system in One computer. But before you install operating system on VirtualBox you should know how to set some settings for secondary operating system.

Step 1: First you install the Oracle VM VirtualBox on your system.
Step 2: Open VirtualBox and Click the New button below the menu bar.
Step 3: Choose the name of the Virtual machine and Select the operating system type. We are using Ubuntu so we choose name for Ubuntu_14 and select type and version and click Next button.
Step 4: Choose your virtual machine memory size(consider your physical memory). we are choose 512MB Memory size. Press Next button.
Step 5: In this Hard drive window you choose Create a virtual hard drive now and press Create button.
Step 6: Choose hard drive file type as VDI (VirtualBox Disk Image) and press Next button.
Step 7: Choose Dynamically allocated and press Next button.
Step 8: Choose your file location and hard drive size. In this Guide we choose 50GB of hard drive space. Finally Click Create button.
Step 9: We create operating system file type and few settings. but we need to change little bit. In this main windows go to Settings option.
Step 10: Navigate System option and change the boot order using UP and DOWN arrow. we have to set CD/DVD writer as first boot device.
Step 11: Navigate Storage option you can see CD/DVD drive is empty. In right side you can see CD icon. Click the CD icon and you have to see drop down menu. Click choose a virtual CD/DVD disk option.
Step 12: Browse and select your Ubuntu operating system ISO file where you can save and click Open button.
Step 13: In storage option you can set Ubuntu ISO file on CD/DVD drive. Finally click OK button.
Step 14: Now you change the settings for Ubuntu operating system. now you click Start button.

Step 15: Now you can start installing Ubuntu operating system on windows or Mac using VirtualBox.
